What safety measures are in place to keep my child safe during the festival?

To ensure your child has a safe and fun visit to The Story Museum each group of 25 children will be supervised by 3 adults led by our experienced and DBS checked Story Guides, all of whom have extensive experience working with schools, children and families. Our adult to child ratio is based on NSPCC guidelines with 1 adult per 8 children.

At the time of booking, we will ask questions about the child in the booking including any medical conditions and allergies we need to be aware of and contacts in case of emergency.

Trained first aiders will be on site throughout the festival.

Every child will be issued with a wristband with their key contact number clearly labelled on the band for quick reference should we need it.

Will my child be able to leave the festival?

We do not allow readmission to the festival.

What if my child becomes unwell or distressed during the festival?

If a child becomes distressed or unwell whilst in our care they will be taken to a quiet space for rest. We will use the contact details on their wristband to ask their parent/carer to come and retrieve them.

My child is under 7 can they attend?

Please do not book children under the age 7 for this festival. In order to ensure the best possible experience, the event and workshop content is aimed at children age 7+. Alongside this the museum risk assessment plans for children age 7+ attending and appropriate measures have been put into place with this age group in mind.

Does my child need to bring anything?

A complimentary sketch pad and pencil will be provided as part of ticket in the goodie bag. Your child will need to keep all belongings with them during the festival so we suggest travelling light. Please bring a small water bottle.

Will my child get to meet every artist listed in their programme?

Your child will have the opportunity to meet the artists delivering events and workshops they attend. We will do our best to ensure every child has the opportunity to meet every artist listed in the market place however this may not always be possible. For example, artists will need to take short breaks during the day, some may be in very high demand and others may need to leave the market place to deliver their event or workshop. We ask for your understanding in this matter.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you find you are unable to use your festival ticket(s) for whatever reason, The Story Museum can try to resell them for you, on the understanding that The Story Museum's own available remaining tickets take priority. This means that your tickets will only be eligible for resale if the event is sold out. You must contact The Story Museum at least 48 hours before the advertised start time. We will make all reasonable attempts to resell your tickets, however we cannot guarantee resale.
