Welcome to a patchwork land of picture books, nursery rhymes and traditional tales for the very young.

Set off to a land of picture books, nursery rhymes and traditional tales for the very young. Explore five story-themed zones where you can go on a Bear Hunt, discover Traction Man’s under-sink world, relax in the Night Safe, ride on the Story Bus and enjoy a bedtime story our giant bed.

Sessions start with a special song together, followed by the week's featured story told by one of our Story Guides with lots of opportunities for joining in. You'll then be free to explore the five story-themed zones for the rest of the session before a final story and goodbye song. Sessions also include a creative activity.

ELMER - OPENING 30 APRIL 2024
We are delighted to announce our brand new Elmer storytelling space in Small Worlds. Created in partnership with Andersen Press to mark the 35th anniversary of the beloved picture books by David McKee. Little ones will be able to enjoy a a new storytelling experience with everyone’s favourite patchwork elephant!

Our 09:45 session on Fridays are specifically for anyone looking to meet other LGBTQ+ Families and socialise in a relaxed setting

Each week our Story Guides tell a special collection of stories from around the world that fall under the following themes:

  • Tasty Tales: Mouthwater stories based on yummy food!

  • Myths and Magic: Enchanting legends filled with interest and awe

  • The Adventures of Elmer: Come and celebrate the new Elmer-themed zone with our favourite Elmer stories. Created in partnership with Andersen Press

  • Animal Antics: Stories all about animals getting themselves and/or others into mischief
    6-12 May, 18-23 June, 29 July-4 August
  • World of Wonders: Stories that were used to explain the origins of the world and natural phenomena

  • Marvellous Minibeasts: Stories that showcase the little creatures of the world

Half price entry
Join us at the 14:45 session Tuesdays - Fridays during term time and pay just £3.25 per person.

Small Worlds is a story-play gallery particularly recommended for under-5s. Please note that this is a structured session so please make sure you arrive in good time for the start time printed on your ticket.

Running time for a Small Worlds session is 60 minutes.
