Oral tradition Folktale from Greece
A prince searches for water to save his dying father.
The Water of Life was one of our Stories from the Woodshed in winter 2020. Our first season of stories was inspired by the tales of the Brothers Grimm. Anna Conomos told a beautiful Greek version of The Water of Life which is a lesser-known Grimm’s tale.
A prince goes in search of the water of life to save his dying father, the king. Along the way he discovers a beautiful woman who was blessed with three magical gifts: a powerful ring, roses for laughter and pearls for tears. Together they find the water of life but will they get to the king in time?
