Lily loves Blue Kangaroo and takes him to bed every night but as Lily is given more toys the bed begins to get crowded.
Story
Blue Kangaroo is Lily’s favourite toy. But soon Blue Kangaroo is joined by Wild Brown Bear, Yellow Cotton Rabbit, two Furry Puppies, a crocodile, and owl and a tiny bear. With all these new toys, would Lily even notice if he disappeared?
Why we chose it
A favourite bedtime story, gently told and beautifully illustrated. Children and parents will recognise and relate to the importance of a favourite toy.
Where it came from
Emma Chichester Clark (1955 - ) is a British author and illustrator. Emma always knew she wanted to draw, and began making picture books with sewn-up spines when she was 5-years-old. As a young adult, she was taught by the illustrator Quentin Blake, and wrote her first picture book in 1987.
Where it went next
I Love You, Blue Kangaroo! is one of Chichester Clark’s most successful books and was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway medal in 1998. It is the first of her Blue Kangaroo series, which use Lily’s relationship with her blue kangaroo to describe the everyday ups and downs of being a small child.
