Why we chose it
A comic story which has stood the test of time. Children today are still laughing at the Bash Street Kids.
Where it came from
Originally called When the Bell Rings it was renamed the Bash Street Kids in 1956. It was apparently inspired by a Dundee school which was next to the offices of DC Thomspson.
Where it went next
The Bash Street Kids are still going strong today and still one of the most popular Beano stories.
A street in Dundee has been named Bash Street.
The Bash Street Kids artwork was exhibited as part of The Beano exhibition at The McManus Art Gallery in 2018.
Associated stories
