Salary: £25,000-£27,000
Contract: Full time, permanent contract
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (flexible working arrangements possible)
We are looking for a new exhibitions manager to manage, oversee and help upkeep the gallery spaces in our most unusual museum. The postholder will lead on overseeing the rolling upkeep of our gallery spaces, design and delivery of new spaces and temporary exhibitions and exploring and managing the touring of existing and upcoming exhibits.
This is a diverse and hands-on role that entails working with the Senior Management Team, Executive Team, publishers, writers, makers, media and members of the public of all ages.
Within this role, the post holder will also manage the Exhibitions Assistant, as well as regularly collaborating with colleagues as part of the Creative Programme Team.

In May 2024 The Story Museum is joining forces with Andersen Press to wish Elmer the Patchwork Elephant a happy 35th birthday! At the heart of the anniversary celebrations will be the unveiling of a new Elmer story space in our immersive Small Worlds gallery in May 2024, along with a series of creative workshops in Oxford’s family centres which will feed into assets for Elmer displays at the museum in the month of May 2024 and beyond.

We are recruiting a new Story Leader to join our vibrant and creative team of qualified primary and secondary teachers leading participatory literacy workshops that build on speaking and listening, creative writing and drama skills for school groups both on and off site.
We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in KS3-KS5 and those with digital storytelling knowledge. The post holder will also support creative activities and storytelling sessions for informal family and community groups.

Story Guides
Salary: £22,183-£22,683 pro rata
Contract: Variable/zero hours part-time contracts available
Hours: Variable hours but must be available to work at least one weekend day per week. Weekend, Bank Holiday and evening working will be required as part of a shared rota
We are looking for a new Story Guide to join our enthusiastic and engaging team who facilitate and encourage imaginative play in our exhibition spaces, host birthday parties and help reset Museum spaces and tidy up our Galleries on a daily basis to ensure that our visitors have the best possible experience.
You'll play a leading role in helping engage visitors of all ages with stories, for example by reading aloud from a book, leading trails, playing with interactive displays and supporting creative learning sessions with pre-school and primary aged school classes and community groups.
We are recruiting Story Guides with a range of abilities and will provide training and career progression for successful applicants who currently do not meet the highest skillset.

Visitor Services Team Vacancies
We are looking for fun and friendly people to join our great visitor services team welcoming visitors to our shop, café and Museum. If you're looking for a training opportunity, a first job from school or university, or the next step in your visitor services career, we're sure you'd enjoy joining our team. We're always keen to hear from enthusiastic young people interested in getting involved with The Story Museum's work however due to the extremely high demand for work experience places we only offer placements through our strategic partnerships with selected schools. Some schools allow students to complete a week’s intensive volunteering during school holidays in lieu of work experience during specific weeks and we’re happy to support whenever possible.
